While traditionally a Spanish varietal, Tempranillo grows excellently in the landscape of Eastern Washington, especially in warm vintages like 2015. Our Tempranillo was fermented in closed top stainless-steel tanks and aged 20 months in barrel. Aromas of raspberry, tobacco, and vanilla accompany the dark red fruits on the palate. Enjoy this wine over the next 3-5 years, and try pairing with your favorite paella recipe.

A traditional an Italian varietal, Barbera thrives in the warm arid conditions of Eastern Washington. A portion of this Barbera was fermented in a combination of open top bins and stainless steel. After fermentation, the wine was aged in Neutral oak barrels for approximately 8 months, and then in stainless steel to preserve the excellent fruit character, for an additional 18 months. The resulting wine has a deep color, with low tannin and moderately high acidity. Floral aromas of lavender are present with flavors and aromas of blackberry and plum.

Our Heritage Series Cabernet Sauvignon represents the best of the Cabernet Sauvignon grown in our Desert Wind Vineyard. The grapes were harvested from the best locations in the vineyard and were carefully fermented in open top bins with twice daily punch downs. Post-Fermentation, the wine was aged for 16 months in barrel. This Cabernet Sauvignon is well structured with flavors of currant, blackberry, and vanilla bean.

Our Malbec was picked in mid-October and fermented in open top bins for 6 days of skin contact, with twice daily punch downs. Post-fermentation the wine was aged for 16 months in barrel to enhance complexity and add additional oak flavors to complement the fruit flavors. The resulting Malbec is rich and soft on the palate with flavors of blackberry and dark chocolate with sweet oak, vanilla, and toast on the finish.

The 2016 Merlot features a rich and structured palate with flavors of cherry, vanilla, and chocolate,leading to a supple finish. Desert Wind Merlot is enjoyable on a warm summer day with barbecued meats and vegetables, or simply as a great glass of wine before dinner. Enjoy now, though will rewarded with several more years of ageing.

The Petit Verdot was picked later in the season, at the end of October, to allow it to fully ripen and concentrate the flavor. It was fermented in open top bins with twice daily punch downs 8 days skin contact. Post-fermentation the wine was aged for 15 months in barrel. This Petit Verdot is rich and full of flavor with moderate tannins and medium acidity. Notes of plum, blackberry, eucalyptus, and cocoa are present.

Ruah, which means, “wind, breath or spirit” in Hebrew is the perfect name for our proprietary blend that reflects the unique terroir of the Wahluke Slope. The 2016 vintage features six classic Bordeaux varietals, and a significant portion of the Rhone varietal Syrah to develop a rich and bold red wine.

The 2017 Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel to preserve its luscious fruit flavors, underwent 50% malolactic fermentation to soften the palate while maintaing bright acid and was aged sur lie to enhance mouthfeel. The resulting wine expresses notes of tropical fruits, honey and hints of vanilla.

 The 2017 growing season was noted for cool spring temperatures that led to a later bloom, but higher temperatures at the end of summer and near fall provided plenty of heat and sunshine to allow the Chardonnay to fully develop and ripen. Our ‘Heritage Series’ Chardonnay was barrel fermented in 100% French oak (25% new), and underwent full malolactic fermentation to produce a creamy, complex, full-bodied wine with complementing oak flavors. The wine was then aged sur lie for seven months in barrel to enhance the mouthfeel and add increased depth to the flavors. Notes of honey, tropical fruits, and a bit of vanilla are present, with soft acidity and a clean, long finish.

Our Dry Rosé features three Portuguese varietals, with Touriga Nacional being dominant then Tinto Cão and Souzão. These varietals are uncommon in Washington, and even more uncommon as a Rosé, which makes our Dry Rose truly one-of-a-kind. The grapes were hand-picked and pressed with minimal skin contact, and then fermented cool in stainless steel. This resulted in a light-bodied, fresh and crisp tasting rosé with notes of strawberry, minerals, and grapefruit.
